New York, NY – The 2009 F2000 title will be decided this weekend at the season finale at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Chris Miller leads the standings by a slim 24 point margin over fellow American Matthew Inge, who passed Miller for the win in race in one of two races at Summit Point just a few weeks ago. Canadian Remy Audette lurks another 34 points back from Inge. With a total of 110 points up for grabs at Mid-Ohio, the championship is far from over.
Another highly competitive race weekend in the books for the F2000 Championship Series, there was no shortage of side-stories, drama and post-race penalties. Championship leader Chris Miller was penalized 10 points following the event.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN. (July 20, 2009) – JDC MotorSports is now within striking distance of its first F2000 Championship Series title, following a successful doubleheader this past weekend (July 18-19) at Summit Point Motorsports Park in West Virginia. American Chris Miller once again challenged for the win in both races, before finishing second in Rounds Nine and 10, strengthening his position as the championship leader. Mexican Alejandro Munoz added his best results of the 2009 campaign, earning a 10th place finish in race one.
Summit Point, WV – 2008 Masters Class champion Tim Minor passed three cars en route to winning round ten of the F2000 season at Summit Point. Minor sneaked past championship contenders Matthew Inge and Chris Miller on the start and then took leader Remy Audette on the outside going into turn one on a restart to take the lead. From there Minor set fastest lap, winning by a huge 11 second margin over Chris Miller and Benjamin Searcy.
Summit Point, WV – Chris Miller and JDC MotorSports took pole from this afternoon’s F2000 race at Summit Point with a record-setting lap of 1:11.103, stealing the pole away from Remy Audette, who clocked in at a 1:11.107, just four-thousandths of a second slower, showcasing the level of competition in the F2000 paddock. It is Miller’s second pole of the weekend and he adds another three points to his championship lead over Matthew Inge, who will line up third for St. Clair Motorsports.
Summit Point, WV – On a beautiful day in West Virginia, Matthew Inge passed Chris Miller and inherited the lead when Tim Minor spun to notch his second win of the season for St. Clair Motorsports and gained back a few valuable points on championship leader Chris Miller who finished second. Miller started from pole and gained bonus points for fastest race lap. Fabio Orsolon finished third with Remy Audette, hanging on with a broken differential and Victor Carbone rounding out the top five.
Summit Point, WV - Championship leader Chris Miller and JDC MotorSports moved another step closer to the 2009 title this morning by taking pole and three championship bonus points at Summit Point for this afternoon’s first F2000 race of the weekend. Miller spent most of the morning session with the second fastest time but was able to find a gap on his very last flying lap, taking pole as the checkered flags waved. Miller also broke the standing F2000 track record at Summit Point by more than a full second.
